Science Objectives

The primary goals of this project are:

1. Sea Acceptance Tests (SATs) of newly installed EK80 and EM124 sonar systems.

2. Conduct noise and interference testing for newly installed sonars with currently installed scientific instrumentation.

3. Synchronization of survey specific instruments with Ksync device.

Science Activities

Science activities include:

1. EM124 Patch Test that will consist of two full runs.
2. EK80 and EM124 noise evaluations at different vessel speeds, from drifting to 12 knots.
3. EM80 and EM124 interference testing with currently installed scientific instrumentation, such as ADCP and Knudsen, along with bridge navigation instrumention such as speed logger and fathometer.
4. Collect EK80 data at biologically rich area on the shelf or shelf break, less than 500m.
5. Collect EM124 data at deep water site, approximately 1000m.
