Science Objectives

The purpose of this voyage is to obtain cores from varying depths on the shelf margin and slope that represent differing subsurface flow regimes.  The objective is to obtain a depth transect of cores from locations off of Nova Scotia (Canada) and New Jersey (USA) that represent different flow regimes.  These will be used to determine the influence of lateral transport by deep currents on SST records in the NW Atlantic.

We will be supproting this with collections of surface sediments with multi-cores.

We wil support these long-coring objectives with CTD water collection and McLane pump filtering.

Science Activities

We will be collecting bathymetric data on the voyage (multibeam bottom profiling and 3.5 kHz sub-bottom profiling for core location.

We will be coring off of Nove Scotia and New Jersey.

We will be collecting water samples at these locations and various location between them.
