Independence Day 2016

Independence of thought, of action, and of research; a belief in the freedom to take initiative; and an irrepressible desire to explore the unknown and to make new discoveries at the furthest extent of human knowledge about the ocean and our planet. All of these qualities lie at the heart of the spirit that drives the scientists, engineers, students, and support staff at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Today, WHOI celebrates Independence Day with gratitude for our nation and our heritage, and with determination to continue our tradition of sharing knowledge for the good of all.
