No Autographs

Alvin generates excitement, no matter where it goes. The deep-diving submersible and its support ship, R/V Atlantis, happen to be in Woods Hole at a time that coincides with the Institution’s annual Board and Corporation meetings, so the Alvin Operations Group rolled the iconic sub out onto the fantail of Atlantis yesterday to give members of the steering committees for the Ocean Exploration Institute and Ocean Life Institute a closeup look. Alvin and Atlantis spend most of their time away from “home,” so it was the first opportunity for many to see the newly upgraded sub.(Photo by Ken Kostel, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
