Earth Day, Every Day

Earth Day, Every Day

April 22, 2015

A school of humpback snapper glows in the sunlight of South Brother Island of the Chagos Archipelago during a recent expedition to survey and sample the remote coral reefs for the first time. Reefs like this are just one stunning part of the interconnected ocean that is largely responsible for conditions making life on Earth possible. Even remote locations like Chagos are showing signs of change driven by human activity, reinforcing the fact that, as vast as the ocean may seem, our home is a pale blue dot deserving (and in need) of our care and attention.(Photo by Konrad Hughen, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
