Ready for spring!

Ready for spring!

March 19, 2010

John Lovett, from W.S. Schultz Co., removes the old camera above the osprey nest located on the WHOI Quissett Campus in early March. A new camera was installed in preparation for the annual return of the birds in spring. Osprey —also known as sea hawks— dine almost exclusively on fish, and mating pairs return to the same nesting sites year after year. The monitoring system and the nest base were also upgraded, and the new and improved observation Web site will be back online soon. The Woods Hole Osprey project is a collaborative effort of many WHOI staff members, including those from Facilities and Services, Computer and Information Services, Graphic Services, Coastal Ocean Institute, and Woods Hole Sea Grant.
