Katrina Edwards received a Young Investigator Award from the Office of Naval Research for work on microbial attachment to mineral surfaces. John Hunt was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor of Albert Einstein of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, US Section, for outstanding contributions in the field of geology.
