- Susumu Honjo received the 2003 Medal of the Imperial Order
of the Rising Sun for his research on the transfer of carbon
dioxide from the atmosphere to the ocean’s interior and for
his efforts to strengthen Japan’s role in the international
ocean science research community.
- Lloyd Keigwin was recipient of the 2004 Edna
McConnell Clark Chair for Excellence in Oceanography.
- Dan McCorkle was awarded the position of
J. Seward Johnson Chair/Educational Coordinator.
