Bare Bones

The skeletal hind flipper of a harbor seal includes finger-like bones, as shown in this articulated display specimen plucked from a Woods Hole warehouse. WHOI biologists work with marine mammal researchers around the world to understand how seals, dolphins, whales, and other creatures survive and thrive in their environments, and why they sometimes perish before their time.
