Happy Camper

June 26, 2012

In May, Ben Linhoff landed in Greenland, where he’ll remain until early August, camping and studying the ice sheet for his research on glaciers and chemical oceanography. It’s his second year on the ice, and also his second year as a doctoral student in the MIT/WHOI Joint Program. “Despite the hardships inherent to camping in the Arctic for three months, I’m looking forward to it,” Linhoff wrote in his blog when he arrived. “Broadly, our goal is to determine how the Greenland Ice Sheet is responding to climate change. Specifically our job is to study the profound impact glacial meltwater has on glacial acceleration.(Photo by Ben Linhoff, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
