Breaking ground

August 9, 2010

Equipped with an $8.1 million federal Recovery Act grant and shiny, new shovels, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) celebrated the groundbreaking of its new Laboratory for Ocean Sensors and Observing Systems on Aug. 4, 2010, on the Institution’s Quissett Campus. “The laboratory will provide essential space for several ongoing large projects, enabling new approaches to ocean observations well into the 21st century,” said Dr. Susan Avery, president and director of WHOI.
