Inside the control van for the remotely operated vehicle Kraken-2, operators Mike McKee (left) and Dennis Arbige (right) from the University of Connecticut Northeast Underwater Research, Technology & Education Center (NURTEC) maneuver the vehicle while chief scientist Al Plueddemann from WHOI (in white hard hat) makes notes. The research team was at sea last October to recover three Coastal Profiler Mooring anchors from the Pioneer Array, a state-of-the-art ocean observatory about 100 miles off the coast of Massachusetts.
