Research assistant Justin Ossolinski (right) helps deploy a sediment trap from the fantail of research vessel Knorr in 2012. Ossolinski is the 2013 recipient of the Ryan C. Schrawder Award, which is given annually to a junior staff member who has become a valuable asset to research projects at sea and ashore. The award was named in honor of engineer assistant Ryan Schrawder of the subsurface mooring group, who died in 2004 after a traffic accident.
