Hold the Cesium

After the earthquake and nuclear release in northeast Japan, many people have begun looking at foods like this tuna appetizer in a very different way. WHOI chemist Ken Buesseler spent much of 2011 and 2012 investigating issues related to the release, spread, and fate of radionuclides from the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean. On May 9 of this year, he will convene a Morss Colloquium that will offer the public a chance to hear latest information related to the impact of radiation on the marine environment.
