WHOI researchers Daniel Montlucon (left), Liviu Giosan (second from left) and two Inuit guides take a break from extracting sediment cores from a frozen Arctic lake. The research team, led by Tim Eglinton, visited the Mackenzie River Delta in April 2007 to sample the soil-rich sediments on the lake bottom for clues to past climate change. The team is headed back to the region for further studies in spring 2009.
