Living on Eggshells

The Russian-operated “ice camp Barneo” was the temporary home of WHOI research specialist Rick Krishfield and engineering assistant Kris Newhall in April 2007. The tents, people, and their gear rested on the ice cap above the North Pole, with just a meter of ice separating the researchers and tourists from a mile or two of Arctic water.
