Two REMUS 600s wait to take a dip off the WHOI dock. These versatile autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) feature a modular design that can be adapted to handle a variety of sensors and travel at depths up to 600 meters. After testing for buoyancy, trim and functionality, the REMUS 600s “flew” through the water to nearby Buzzards Bay to meet a REMUS 100, which recently gained attention as the pursuer-turned-target of great white sharks.
