Science
- Bolts
This is probably my favorite science image, and it just goes to show
you how interesting even mundane subjects can be! The science was
all done, and I was hanging out in the wet lab wondering what I could
possibly photograph for the daily dispatch, when I noticed this unusual
arrangement of bolts. Marine Science Technician Lee
Brittle was taking the CTD
frame apart and polishing all of the bolts one by one. I used the
swivel monitor on the digital camera to unobtrusively (from waist
level) shoot about 20-30 versions of this shot until I hit on the
idea to crop out Lee's head and make the image more of a panoramic.
I used a slow shutter speed to blur Lee's hands a little, to show
some action in the scene.
