Come and Get Me

The automonous underwater vehicle Puma waits for pickup on the surface of the Arctic Ocean, nestled in a slushy patch of ice in July 2007. The AUV, along with special underwater beacons and acoustic tracking systems, was specially designed to allow researchers to work beneath the ice and make the first search for life on the seafloor of this isolated ocean.
