Vice President for Operations and Chief Financial Officer

The Vice President for Operations and Chief Financial Officer is responsible for defining and executing the short, medium, and long-term strategic budget financial planning and resource allocation at WHOI. The Accounting, Endowment and Cash Management, Contracts and Grants, Information Services, and Facilities operations fall under the auspices of the Vice President for Operations and CFO.

Groups reporting to the CFO are:

  • Finance & Accounting
    The Finance & Accounting office is responsible for the WHOI's accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of its financial reports.
  • Facilities & Services
    The Facilities department is responsible for WHOI's land-based physical plant and infrastructure including building services, skilled trade shops, distribution, and Institution security.
  • Grants & Contract Services
    Grant and Contract Services is the WHOI office that interacts directly with the grant and contract offices of all agencies (federal and non-federal) that provide support to Principal Investigators through the funding of research and technical proposals.
  • Information Services
    Information Services comprises 5 groups including Business Systems, Servers & Storage, End User Technology, Network & Communications, and Business Applications. Our goal is to facilitate the scientific effort by providing technical support and information to users of information technology within the WHOI community.
