April 5, 2016

Carol Armstrong, wife of Naval aviator and the first man to set foot on the moon, Neil Armstrong, christened the research vessel bearing her husband’s name in 2014. R/V Neil Armstrong is a 238-foot ship owned by the U.S. Navy and operated by WHOI to carry up to 24 scientists almost anywhere on the global ocean on research expeditions lasting up to 40 days. On Wednesday, April 6, watch live as the ship sails into its home port of Woods Hole for the first time. (U.S. Navy photo by John F. Williams/Releases)
