Spray Glider Deployment

After a multi-month break due to COVID, Robert Todd’s group resumed routinely surveying the Gulf Stream from Miami, FL to Cape Cod, MA using Spray underwater gliders in April 2021. The glider will zig-zag back and forth across the Gulf Stream, sending back measurements of temperature, salinity, currents, and more as it is carried northward for the next few months. Since 2015, a series of more than 30 such glider missions has sampled across the Gulf Stream more than 200 times, building a multi-year record of the variability in this key component of the Earth’s climate system.
