Building a Legacy

Long-time WHOI Board chairman Noel McLean spoke during the 1980 Associates Dinner dedication of the laboratory building named after him that was built to house geoscience laboratories along with a 50-year collection of sediment cores, rocks, and other seafloor samples. Today, WHOI’s data library and archives are also located in the McLean Laboratory, along with the National Ocean Sciences Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (NOSAMS) Facility.(Photo courtesy of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Archives)
