Members of the WHOI Upper Ocean Processes Group conduct at-sea repairs on an ASIMET buoy in the Gulf Stream that was probably damaged by a ship. Sensors on the buoy measure heat, sunlight, winds, precipitation, humidity, barometric pressure, air and sea surface temperature, and salinity. The buoy was part of a project designed to learn about how air-sea interactions affect climate. WHOI scientists and engineers have been deploying moorings in the Gulf Stream since the 1950s.  (Photo by Patrick Rowe, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
