Teaching the Teachers

Teaching the Teachers

November 13, 2010

Twice per year, WHOI hosts teacher workshops designed to give educators first-hand knowledge about exciting and current ocean science and engineering topics. Here teachers get some experience with a classroom activity developed to help students better understand ocean acidification. In it, students simulate the way seawater absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to observe how its pH  decreases. Learn more about ocean acidification and its potential impacts on fisheries, coral reefs, and even tourism.(Photo by Tom Kleindinst, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)
