Keeping an Eye on History

Ann Devenish and Ellen Levy (right) emerge from the forest of shelves in the MBL/WHOI data library and archives (DLA). The library holds more than 34,700 cataloged items—everything from technical reports, books, and atlases to scientific instruments and maps. The DLA also holds more than 150,000 photographs and slides, 10,500 nautical charts, 1,300 linear feet of film and videos, and 3,500 linear feet of archives material, including personal papers, administrative collections, logs, and paper data.
