Associates of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution have the unique opportunity to travel to exciting destinations and explore the world's natural wonders with a WHOI scientist as their guide.  Expeditions are scheduled every 12 to 18 months and feature an educational experience grounded in the marine environment.

New Zealand is a landscape of extraordinary contrasts, from the West Coast's precipitous bluffs soaring above glistening icy-blue glaciers, to the South Islands golden sand dunes and snowy peaks, sperm whales and flightless birds.

Past Associates Trips

In January 1997, WHOI Associates embarked on an extraordinary 21-day voyage to Antarctica, South Georgia, and the Falkland Islands. 

November 1998 found a group of Associates cruising the Western Coast of South America on a journey to the Lands of Humboldt and Darwin. 

In years past, Associates trips have explored Hawaii, the Galapagos Islands, Madagascar, Australia, and the islands of the South Pacific.
