- Terry Joyce was named Chair of the
Ocean and Climate Change Institute.
- Sabine Mecking received the award for best
presentation by a young scientist in physical oceanography,
climate topic session, PICES meeting, Honolulu, HI.
- Joe Pedlosky received the Sverdrup Gold Medal
from the American Meteorological Society. He also received
the WHOI Arnold Arons Award.
- Kurt Polzin received the Nansen Medal from
the European Geophysical Society.
- Luc Rainville received the European Geophysical
Union Young Scientists’ Outstanding Poster Paper Award.
- Fiamma Straneo received the award for Best
Poster by a Scientist recognition at the Bjerknes Centenary
Conference, “Climate Change in High Latitudes.”
She also received the Bjerknes Visiting Scientist Fellowship.
- John Toole received the Columbus O’Donnell
Iselin Chair for Excellence in Oceanography.
- Peter Winsor was named an Ocean and Climate
Change Institute Fellow.
- Glen Gawarkiewicz, James Lerczak,
and Bob Pickart were keynote speakers at
the Gordon Conference.
