Jason Expedition Leader

Tito Collasius, expedition leader of the team that operates the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Jason sports his trademark hard hat on a recent research cruise. The son and grandson of sailors, Collasius says he has seawater in his veins. He joined the Navy at 17, then came to WHOI to work on research ships and was a messhand on the research cruise that discovered Titanic in 1985. He later joined the Jason team, became a pilot of Jason, and eventually worked his way up to expedition leader.
