Up and Comers

For 58 years, WHOI has brought some of the best and brightest undergraduate students from around the world to Woods Hole for a summer-long immersion into ocean science. Students selected for the Summer Student Fellowship (SSF) Program attend lectures by scientists and conduct research under the guidance of world-class researchers. They leave with a better understanding of what studying for a Ph.D. and being a professional scientist are all about. Many alumnae/i of the program have gone on to be leaders in the field. Quite a few current WHOI scientists, who once-upon-a-time were SSFs, continue the tradition and are now advisors for new generations of fellows.
