Watch Out
June 21, 2017During a field trip to the Ocean Science Exhibit Center, a class from the Woods Hole Daycare Cooperative watches video of a great white shark as seen from REMUS SharkCam. In 2011, a team at the Oceanographic Systems Laboratory developed the specially-outfitted autonomous underwater vehicle that can locate, track and film a tagged marine animal. They also developed TurtleCam, which is shedding light on behaviors of endangered Leatherback sea turtles off the Cape Cod coast. As part of a series on research in local waters, WHOI engineer Amy Kukulya will give a talk about both projects June 22 at 6 p.m. at Highfield Hall & Gardens in Falmouth, Mass.
