Edmund Karl Brown

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of former employee Edmund Karl Brown on March 14 in Bristol, ME. He was 86.

Karl, as he liked to be referred to, was born in Torrington, CT, and summered in Boothbay Harbor, ME.

Karl was a resident of North Falmouth for many years. He was an electrician by trade. Karl began his career at WHOI in 1989 in the Facilities Department as an electrician. In 1998, he was promoted to senior electrician. He retired in 2003.

After his retirement, Karl moved to Maine with his wife Diane.

Karl had a love for boating and being with friends and family.

Karl’s wife, Diane, predeceased him. He leaves his children Debra, Barbara, and Ted all of Maine and five grandchildren.
