Edward F. Graham Jr.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of former employee Edward F. Graham Jr., on February 28, 2025. He was 80 years old.

Ed began working at WHOI in 1979 as a messman aboard the R/V Knorr.  In 1988, he transferred over to the R/V Oceanus.  He was promoted several times throughout his career and retired as an able seaman in 2006. Ed was aboard the Knorr with Robert Ballard when they found the Titanic. His career at WHOI enabled him to travel all over the world.

Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved meeting people. He also was a member of St. Anthony’s Church, which he tried to attend every day.

He is survived by his son Scott Graham of Pensacola, FL, and siblings Deanna Enos, Jerry Graham, James Graham, Janet Sawyer, and David Graham. He also leaves granddaughter Leilani Graham and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Edward F. Graham Sr. and Irene Figuerido Graham, and brother Richard Graham.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 5 from 4-6 p.m. at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 475 Main Street, Falmouth with a Funeral Service taking place at 6 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
