Margaret Chaffee

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of retiree Margaret Chaffee on May 11, in Concord, NH.  She was 87.

Margaret was born in 1927 in New York, NY.  In 1948, she received a B.A. in Geology from the College of Wooster, in Ohio.  She also attended the University of New Hampshire from 1950-51.

Margaret began her career at WHOI as technical assistant in 1957 and stayed in that position until she left in 1964.  In 1966, she was rehired as a research assistant.  In 1969, she became a research associate. In 1974, she became a senior research assistant/data processor.  She retired in 1980.
