Margaret Stern

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announces with great sorrow the death of retiree Margaret P. Stern on May 6, in Naples, FL.  She was 78. 

Margaret was born July 2, 1932, in Van Voorhis, PA.  She graduated from Charleroi High School in Charleroi, PA, in 1950, and attended Pinkerton Business College in Pittsburgh, PA, for one year.

Margaret began her career at WHOI in 1966 as a secretary in the Ocean Engineering Department for William O. Rainnie.  In 1974, she became a secretary for Larry Shumaker.  In 1977, she transferred to Alvin/Lulu operations and was promoted to staff assistant.  She retired in 1992.
