VISA and Passport Information

NOTE:  Visitors who are citizens in certain countries are required to have an entry visa in order to visit Canada. The list is available at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp

IMPORTANT  Participants who require a Canadian visa are encouraged to start the application process EARLY. Processing time varies by country and embassy or consulate. Some visas have a processing time of 1-2 months.

Entry into Canada
US residents do not need a passport to get into Canada; however, they will need one to get back into the U.S. Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to visit Canada must first obtain a visa.

Letters of Invitation

If you require a Letter of Invitation from the conference organizers, please include the following in an EMAIL REQUEST to: rickcole@rdsea.com with a copy to wpaul@whoi.edu

  • Full name, as shown on your passport - Indicate FAMILY NAME in ALL CAPS
  • Institution or Company
  • Complete mailing address, including COUNTRY
  • Email address
  • Phone/Fax
  • Travel dates to/from Canada
  • Title of your abstract or presentation, if applicable

IMPORTANT: You should receive an email confirmation within 24 hours. If you do NOT receive an email confirmation, FAX a copy of your email message to +1-508-457 2194.

Requests for Letters of Invitation are verified against full paper submissions or full conference registration. An electronic (PDF) copy is sent via email, usually within 2-3 days, with the paper original via Airmail.
