Stoelting bone cement #51458

Assistance provided by Ann Bodio, student technician.

Twelve live scallops were affixed to plastic netting. The animals were out of water for about 20 minutes. Shells were scrubbed free of algal fouling, patted dry, and affixed to netting with the pink Stoelting cement. Two batches of cement were mixed up and the first 8 scallops were attached and then the 4 remaining scallops were attached with a second batch of Stoelting cement. The adhesive was allowed to dry for 15 minutes in air on the bench top. Then the scallops were placed in the tank of running seawater.
